PCR tests

During a PCR test, one of our nurses or doctor’s assistants will use a cotton swab to collect a small sample from your throat and your nose. These samples will be taken to the lab, where they will be tested for coronavirus. The PCR test measures active virus substances, which indicate a possible infection. The PCR test can be used to determine whether you are currently infected with the coronavirus

In general, the PCR test results will be available within 24 hours. We can guarantee that you will receive the results within 48 hours. If you do not receive the result within 48 hours, the costs of the corona test will be credited.

Rapid tests

We use one of the two quick tests that have been approved by the RIVM and the Dutch Government, the Panbio COVID-19 quick test (also referred to as the antigen test). With this quick test, it only takes 20 minutes to determine whether you have certain virus proteins (antigens) in your body, which indicate an infection with Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

Since 6 November 2020, a negative result of the quick test is a guarantee of a lack of infection. Please refer to the following news report of the NOS.

If the quick test shows a negative result, you will receive a non-COVID certificate. Please be aware that most destinations only accept a PCR-test to enter the country.

Serology tests

During a serology test, one of our BIG-registered nurses will take a blood sample. We will examine that sample for Corona antibodies.

During the analysis of the sample, a total of three antibodies will be examined; IgM IgA and IgG. IgM is the first antibody that is produced during an infection, so if there’s IgM detected in your blood, there is an active infection in your blood. Once the body starts to fight the infection, it will start producing the antibody IgA. After a few weeks, your blood may contain the IgG antibody, once this is detected in your blood, your body has developed immunity against the virus. In short; the serology test can measure if you have developed immunity against the Coronavirus as a result of a past infection.

What is “Corona” exactly?

The first case of Corona virus was identified at the end of 2019. And has since spread rapidly worldwide. The official name for the Corona virus is “SARS-CoV-2”and the illness caused by this virus is called COVID-19.

The most common symptoms from COVID-19 are; a sore throat, headaches, muscle pain, blocked sinuses, shortness of breath, coughing, fevers and pneumonia.

If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms; it may not be possible to get tested at any of our locations.

We offer a variety of Corona tests: the Panbio COVID-19 quick test, the PCR molecular test and the Serology antibody test. Or a combination of these.

Non-covid certificate

In case of a negative PCR-test result, you will receive a non-COVID certificate. When you get the email with the link to your results, you will find the option to download your non-COVID certificate at the bottom of the page. All our non-COVID certificates (medical non-COVID certificates) have been signed by our practitioner and are internationally recognised.

Our tests are approved by the Robert-Koch Institute – the RIVM institute in Germany.
